What the White Rabbit Sees in Wonderland

1/19/20

‍    One of the PFCC starting images last month was a pocket watch from Pixabay. I pondered for a while before I remembered the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland alway worrying he’d be late. It’s surprising hard to find stock images of the underside of a rabbit paw. I didn’t even have access to a rabbit to take my own photo. Sooooo . . . I substituted the white cat paw from AdobeStock. I did manipulate the fingers to better hold the watch and look more like a rabbit’s foot. Bad luck for the bunny, huh?

‍    I finished this off with several overlays from Graphic Authority’s Timeless  and Steampunk collections to make the background.

‍    Adobe’s 9-Day Photoshops Challenge have started up again with the new year.  The image below is my interpretation of a new business card design. The leader, Kathleen Illustrated provided the the card template (from AdobeStock, I think). The logo image is one I created for last month’s Daily Illustrator Challenge. I overlaid that with an end paper pattern from PhotoshopRoadmap, and added a hue/saturation that made everything look like gold leaf.

‍    The text on the other card started with Nueva Standard. I pulled and pushed the serifs around to make it unique. Same texture overlay and H/S layer for gold. The “marble” background is the same endpaper texture with a different blend mode over a dark red color that made its own gold veining.

‍    Doing the challenges sometimes seems too basic, , but I always pick up a few tips I didn’t know before. Most of all, it’s an exercise to stretch my brain in new directions. I’m doing things that I would never think to do without the challenges, and some of them turn out very well

‍    Take care and stay well.
